Hilltop Beauty, Auburn NH

Situated high up on a hill with expansive views of the fields and forest below, this distinguished property proposed abundant landscape potential. The homeowners were in the final stages of a full-scale home restoration, and desired a landscape to complement their home. We partnered with the owners to develop a design, ensuring that the landscape would enhance the natural beauty of their newly restored home without detracting from the majestic beauty of the surrounding property.

This design developed into a multi-phase hardscaping and landscaping project, including installation of stone walls, stairs, and patio as well as plantings throughout the property. We also collaborated with other contractors for installation of a pool and pavilion.

Original concept for hardscaping and landscaping

The first phase was redesigning the front of the home. We enhanced the property’s accessibility and functionality by developing a horseshoe driveway design. This provided an elegant approach to the house and front door as well as additional parking opportunities. We incorporated a grove of River Birch and natural boulders within the horseshoe to soften the presence of the house and driveway. A large natural stone retaining wall was added below the driveway, separating the front yard from the lower fields. All wall stones were sustainably sourced on site from their 100-acre property.

We then proceeded to create their backyard design with an expansive pool, dining, and lounge terrace overlooking their barn, fields, forest, and pond below. The terrace serves as a perfect entertainment accessory, providing ample space for large groups, pool parties, or an intimate gathering under the pavilion by their fireplace.
